The NJ North 1 Sectional Champs is the qualifier for the State Group meets next Saturday at Holmdel Park. To move on, a team must finish in the top 5 spots. An individual must finish in the top 10 places. It has been moved from Garret Mountain, it's normal home, to Thompson Park due to a snowstorm the previous weekend which left the park with trees and wires down on the course.

According to the Star Ledger weekly NJ boys ranking, In the boys, the Group IV race features #5 Ridgewood and #19 Hackensack. The Group III race has no top 25 teams. The Group II has #9 Morris Hills, #11 Wallkill Valley and #18 Ramsey. The Group I race has no top 25 teams.

According to the Star Ledger weekly NJ girls ranking, the Group IV race features #6 Ridgewood and #8 Randolph. The Group III race has #21 Northern Highlands. The Group II race and the Group 1 race has no top 25 teams.
