The top two teams will automatically earn a trip to Portland, Oregon for the Nike Cross Nationals, also called NXN. Up to two teams can also get one of the 4 wildcards that will go to what the organizers think are the four best teams in the country that weren't automatic qualifiers. There are 8 regions so 20 teams will make it to Portland. In addition, the top 5 runners not making it on a team will also move on to the NXN meet in Portland. There is a lot at stake.
